How this calculator works

Enter your buy and sell prices, unit count and brokerage to see the net profit or loss on an ASX or international share trade. The calculator nets off brokerage paid on entry and exit before reporting your dollar and percentage return.

Rates sourced from the Australian Taxation Office for the 2026–27 financial year. Last reviewed 01/07/2026.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include capital gains tax?

No, this shows your raw trading profit or loss before tax. Use the Capital Gains Discount calculator to estimate tax on any gain.

What if I sold in multiple parcels?

Run this once per parcel using the actual buy price and quantity for that parcel, since the ATO tracks cost base per parcel.

Does it handle a loss?

Yes, if your sale proceeds are below your cost base plus brokerage the result shows a negative dollar and percentage figure.
