Editorial and corrections policy
What we promise about the accuracy of what you read here, and what happens when we get something wrong.
Our standard
Content is written to be useful to an ordinary person in Australia, in plain English, without jargon or padding. We would rather publish a smaller, correct answer than a confident-sounding one.
Review before publication
- Every formula is checked against the published rule or standard textbook definition it implements.
- Every legislated rate carries the financial year and publisher it came from.
- Every calculator ships with a worked example that a reader can verify by hand.
- Anything we cannot verify becomes an editable input, not a hardcoded assumption.
Annual updates
Australian tax, super and repayment thresholds change on 1 July. Because those values live in one central configuration, we review and update them as the ATO publishes each year's figures, and we state on the page which year a calculator is using.
Corrections
If a calculation is wrong we fix it as a priority, not at the next scheduled update. Material corrections — ones that change a result — are noted on the affected page. Typos and wording clarifications are corrected silently.
Independence
CalcAussie is free to use. Results are produced by the formula alone; no calculator is weighted toward any bank, lender, insurer, fund or retailer, and results are never ordered or altered on a commercial basis. Where advertising appears, it is labelled and kept separate from the calculator and its results.
Tell us about a problem
Report an inaccuracy through the contact page. Include the calculator name and the inputs you used so we can reproduce it. See also our methodology and disclaimer.
