How this calculator works
Flooring is normally sold in whole packs with a stated square-metre coverage. This calculator preserves that purchasing constraint, applies a user-selected cutting and layout allowance to the measured net floor, and shows the spare coverage created by rounding to complete packs.
Frequently asked questions
Does a diagonal layout need more allowance?
Usually yes, because angled end cuts and board selection create more offcut loss than a straightforward parallel layout.
Should fixed cabinetry be deducted?
Follow the flooring manufacturer's installation rules, because floating floors may not be installed beneath fixed cabinetry while other systems can differ.
Why keep unopened spare boards?
Matching colour and profile can be difficult later, so a small dry-stored reserve can make future board replacement easier.
