Calculation breakdown
- Annualise
- Annual amount = pay amount × pay periods per year
- Re-period
- Other period amount = annual amount ÷ periods per year for that frequency
Worked example
A fortnightly pay of $2,000 is equivalent to $52,000 a year, about $1,000 a week or $4,333 a month.
Assumptions
- Uses a standard 52-week year; monthly figures are averages since months vary in length.
- Rescales the amount entered as-is, whether gross or net.
How this calculator works
Enter a pay amount and its frequency to see the equivalent weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual figures. This makes it easy to compare two job offers or payslips quoted using different pay periods.
Frequently asked questions
Why isn't monthly pay exactly four times weekly pay?
There are slightly more than four weeks in a month on average, since a year has 52 weeks but only 12 months, so monthly pay is annual pay divided by 12.
Does this work for hourly rates too?
This converts a fixed pay amount between periods; use the Annual Salary to Hourly Rate calculator to convert to an hourly figure instead.
Is this gross or net pay?
This simply rescales the amount you enter, so the result is gross if you enter gross, and net if you enter net.
Actual entitlements can depend on your award, enterprise agreement, contract, employment status and individual circumstances.
