Worked example
Assessments weighted 20%, 30% and 50% score 80%, 70% and 60% respectively: (80×20 + 70×30 + 60×50) ÷ 100 = 67%. If only the first two are finished, you have earned 16 + 21 = 37 of the 50 points available so far, an average of 74%.

- Rows with a weighting of 0 are ignored, so up to eight assessments can be entered.
How this calculator works
Add up to eight assessment components with their scores and weightings to calculate a normalised weighted mark for the work entered, each task's contribution and the marks earned toward your final grade so far.
How a weighted grade is calculated
Each assessment score is multiplied by its weighting. The weighted contributions are added together, then divided by the total weighting entered. This prevents a small quiz from counting as much as a major exam.
For example, scores of 80%, 70% and 60% with weightings of 20%, 30% and 50% produce (80×20 + 70×30 + 60×50) ÷ 100 = 67% overall.

What if the weightings do not total 100%?
If you enter only completed assessments, the calculator normalises the result across the weightings entered. That shows your weighted average on completed work, not the final subject mark.
For a final course grade, include every assessment and make sure the weightings total 100%. Up to eight assessments can be entered; leave unused rows with a weighting of zero, because a zero score with a positive weighting is treated as a completed zero mark.

Frequently asked questions
Do the weightings need to add to 100%?
Ideally yes, but the calculator will still compute a result using the weightings you enter and shows a note if they don't total 100%.
Can I use this for university and school subjects?
Yes, it works for any assessment structure as long as you know each component's percentage weighting and your score.
What if I haven't sat an assessment yet?
Set an unfinished component's weighting to 0 so it is excluded. Entering a score of 0 with a positive weighting counts that assessment as a zero and lowers the result.
